Best Upright Vacuum Cleaners In The Industry

So you are looking for an upright? What are the best upright vacuum cleaners?
If you didn’t read my main post yet, be sure do this first!

Over the years, I had always people come to me, saying that they don’t want an upright vacuum no more… The reasons were the following, “It doesn’t do a great job, they are too heavy, they don’t have enough power, … ”. This is not true. Please, they are very powerful machines! You just have to know what to look out for. They are not made for every person out there. Maybe you have bare floors? If so, the Canister might be a better solution. There are many things to look out for when considering the right upright.

To make things easier for you. I made a list of my favourite upright vacs. There are literally thousands of them… But today, I will give you the 5 best upright vacuums!

Number 1 – The Dyson Ball Multi Floor Upright Vacuum Corded

Dyson Ball Multi Floor Upright Vacuum – CordedBest Upright Vacuum Cleaners
Those folks at Dyson are a smart and clever bunch, both in their product designs and in their marketing. One hell of a beauty which is well-worth the price tag. It has an easy assembly and amazing sunction power. It gets all the dirt and dust out of the carpet that you didn’t think was there. If you are a pet owner, you should buy this with the Dyson tangle free turbine tool.

You might be asking yourself if this attachment is worth it’s price?? Yes it is. It has counter-rotating heads with brushes to remove hair and dirt from carpets and upholstery. The clean air turbine provides the flexible heads with constant power over uneven surfaces. This one takes ground in cat and dog hair off of upholstery like it was nothing. Pets that sheds a lot? This is a no-brainer product!

Number 2 – The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional

Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional (NV356E)Best Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Looking for a high quality vacuum without breaking the bank? This just might be the one for you. I love the design and it picks up hair from dogs and cats like no other. It takes only a few minutes to put together and is super easy to clean or empty. It has all the vacuum tools for different surfaces. Cord length is good. Sunction is great. Easy to maneuver… The only thing that I didn’t like was that it wasn’t as lightweight as the others (maybe mine had to much hair in it) This one is (in my opinion) as good the Dyson I mentioned before. At the end of the day, you are also just paying for your brand.

Number 3 – BISSELL 9595A Vacuum with OnePass Corded

BISSELL 9595A Vacuum with OnePass – CordedBest Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Extremely cheap vacuum for what it can do. The tools are handy for reaching corners and under furniture as well as stairs. It is relatively light and quiet for a vacuum. Good for pets that shed a lot. Great choice if you have lots of carpets. Beware though, If you only have bare floors in your house and absolutely no carpets. Then consider a more expensive upright, I heard if you use this one on bare floors it tends to spit out the dirt again. Overall, I think that this vacuum says what it does. I give BISSELL a huge thumbs up!

Number 4 – Oreck Commercial XL2100RHS 8 Pound Commercial

Oreck Commercial XL2100RHS 8 Pound Commercial Upright VacuumBest Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Orecks are doing a great job. From all the Orecks I tried, I think this one is by far their best. The way it looks could commercially be better (industrial orange cord). But hey, that’s personal preference. I don’t care about the looks of the vacuum cleaner as long as it performs well. I’m surprised this vacuum is very light. Easy to assemble. Easy to store. Has an extremely long power cord which again is preference, some people don’t like long cords (I think it is handy) The bags are big and cheap. It sucks really strong. The only downside I think is that it could get a little loud sometimes. Overall a quality vacuum !

Number 5 – Shark Rocket TruePet Ultra-Light Upright

Shark Rocket TruePet Ultra-Light Upright (HV322)Best Upright Vacuum Cleaners

At first glance, it seems expensive for a stick vacuum? Let me tell you, it is not. It is surprisingly powerful for such a small, compact device. This one cleans bare floors and deep clean carpets. It has a built-in light, which is awesome… you can actually see spots in your house that wouldn’t normally see (those spider webs). It also has a wall-mount which makes it easy to store out of the way. Lightweight and extremely maneuverable. Can be turned into a handheld vac. Sunction power is amazing. Easy to assemble. Great for pets, has the TruePet Motorized Brush. You cannot go wrong with this shark!

Conlusion & Final Recommendations

The Dyson Ball is by far one of the best units I’ve had my hands on. It might be one of the more expensive vacuums out there, but you will never want to go back once you have this one. Trust me, if you are still not sure which vacuum to buy. Buy this one right
hereBest Upright Vacuum Cleaners. The Shark Navigator I recommend it for an all-purpose vacuum in houses with lots of wooden/tile floors and area rugs.

The BISSEL is for anyone who has lots of carpets to clean. Works okay on bare floors, but I heard stories from people saying it’s just better for carpets.

The Oreck may not look that stunning but it does an overall great job on everything. If you don’t care about looks, this one might be for you.

The Shark Rocket has some handy features and works amazing for me. It doesn’t have any flaws and it’s the price tag well-worth. Great for pets!

I hope I helped with the list I gave you. Uprights are truly a great friend. I’m sure you will love these bad boys just like I do. If you consider buying one of them online, Amazon is a great option. I never had any problems with them and they have amazing discounts.

  1. Not mentioned is the Hoover Tempo Widepath bagged upright, model U5140900. Unlike Hoovers of yore, this is not a “dirty fan” machine that puts the suction fan in the airflow with the dust, blowing the dust up and into a bag and maybe breaking the fan if you vacuum up something hard like a big coin. This is a more modern design with a through-flow suction motor that pulls the dirt up the nozzle and into the bag like a good canister vacuum. It is not fancy, there is no means to turn the brush off for hard floors or when the hose is in use but you couldn’t do that with all those old Hoover uprights that so many revere. The hose is attached to the base and the attachments are reasonable. It is robust and powerful with the newer models using a high quality Ametek Lamb suction motor. They have full HEPA filtration, are easy to use and seem to be pretty durable. A good value.

Also no mention of some higher end uprights from Aerus Lux (might be the best thought out upright made), Maytag, Panasonic, Sanitaire, Lindhaus or Sebo.
